The Super Bowl is nearly upon us, and we’re looking at all the various Super Bowl props, in particular the Elijah Mitchell odds.

Host Sites For A 2022 U.S. World Cup That Doesn't Exist–Yet

ESPN Deportes' Jorge Ramos caused a bit of a stir last week by reporting that FIFA put U.S. Soccer on standby for the 2022 World Cup, should Qatar be stripped of its hosting privileges. While this report has been disputed and denied up and down, America's vast sports infrastructure would make it a sensible backup since it's perfectly capable of hosting a massive event like the World Cup on shorter-than-usual notice. So, let's say FIFA grows a pair and takes the tournament away from Qatar like a parent snatching a toy from a misbehaving child. And then let's say the U.S. gets the nod. Where would they play? There have been a lot of changes to the venues used in 1994, the last time America hosted a World Cup. The Silverdome is in ruins, RFK Stadium is fairly decre…

West Brom v Southampton: match preview

If one result might kick West Brom into some high-flying, season-saving mania it is walloping Chelsea 5-2. Ignore Thiago Silva’s red card and focus on the task at hand – stacking up wins, starting with Southampton. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side may have picked up a win of their own against Burnley but showed the brittleness that has plagued them all campaign by quickly going 2-0 down. The flipside, of course, was the marvellous comeback spearheaded by the returning Theo Walcott and Danny Ings. The pair could profit in the second half once again should Sam Allardyce resort to throwing the kitchen sink at a vital set of three points. Graham Searles

How the Socceroos’ World Cup hopes are underpinned by ties with Scotland

Who says Scotland aren’t going to the World Cup? The country’s World Cup drought might have extended to 24 years when they failed to qualify for the 2022 edition, but that doesn’t mean Scotland isn’t being represented at football’s global showpiece in Qatar.

Instead of their navy blue, Scotland’s representation will come with a green and gold hue. The Socceroos’ current squad not only reflects the changing face of Australian society and more recent migration patterns through the likes of Thomas Deng, Garang Kuol, Awer Mabil and Keanu Baccus, it also strongly reflects those of a previous era with a more Anglo-Celtic persuasion.

FA insists Champions League final security was success despite incidents

The Football Association has insisted that the massive security operation for the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund on Saturday night was a success, particularly in terms of keeping out ticketless fans who tried to storm the Wembley gates.

The biggest game in European club football was marred at the outset by three men invading the pitch. The first got close enough to the Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior to take a selfie and the last was eventually bundled away by stewards with the Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer lending a hand. The Metropolitan police said on Sunday night that three people have been charged with invading the pitch – Yevhenii Lubnenko, 29, David Carneckij, 28, and a 16-year-old boy are …

Gregg Popovich Calls Team "Pathetic" After Loss To Knicks

Last night, Gregg Popovich's San Antonio Spurs somehow managed to lose an overtime game to the Knicks, a team that regularly turns possessions into crimes against humanity. This wasn't one of those games where Pop sat all of his starters, either. This was a full-strength squad getting beasted by the likes of Alexey Shved and Langston Galloway. After the game, Pop was not too happy about the loss. The "didn't respect the game" criticism is a harsh one to throw at your own team, but it's hard to disagree with him here. It has to be hard to look at yourself in the mirror after dropping one to the Knicks. …

Marco Rubio Wins Steady Paycheck In Lead-Up To 2020 Loss

Unfortunately for Marco Rubio, he’s projected to win his race for the Senate in Florida. A win that, even more unfortunately for the American people, means four more years of dealing with Marco Rubio. Rubio’s already admitted that he the job, telling CNN: No one can make that commitment because you don’t know what the future’s going to hold in your life, personally or politically. Which basically means, I’ll see you in the primaries. We already know he hates his job—it’s why he rarely bothers to show up in the first place. And yet, Rubio needs to stay in the public eye if he wants a chance at losing the presidency in 2020 (and he needs a paycheck even more). But after getting humiliated in his own state by Donald Trump, a win—even for a job you hate—has to…
