Frosinone must play beyond limits against Inter Milan – Eusebio Di Francesco

Frosinone coach Eusebio Di Francesco feels his side will have to play beyond their limits when they face the “most complete” team Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.

Simone Inzaghi’s side, though, were knocked off the top of Serie A after Juventus beat Cagliari on Saturday.

Where might Lionel Messi go next after Paris St Germain spell ends?

Lionel Messi’s two-year spell at Paris St Germain ended in a 3-2 home defeat to Clermont Foot at the weekend.

An option to extend his stay with the Ligue 1 champions has not been activated with the Argentina World Cup winner heavily linked with a return to Barcelona, although he does have other alternatives.

Here, the PA news agency looks at where the 35-year-old seven-time Ballon d’Or winner might go next.

Barcelona

Considering Messi never really wanted to leave and was effectively forced out as the club’s financial problems meant they could not afford to renew his contract, due to wage cap issues, a return to his spiritual home in Catalonia, the Nou Camp seems the obvious choice. Even last summer, club president Joan Laporta said it was the club’s resp…

Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool (0-2 agg): Jota double sends Reds into EFL Cup final

Diogo Jota fired Liverpool into the EFL Cup final with his double securing a 2-0 victory over Arsenal, who finished the semi-final second leg with 10 men.

Liverpool will take on Chelsea at Wembley in their 13th EFL Cup final, though it will be their first appearance in the showpiece since 2016.

Jota squeezed in the opening goal in the 19th minute, bringing an end to a bright Arsenal start that saw Alexandre Lacazette hit the crossbar.

Liverpool had the tie wrapped up when VAR overturned an offside decision after Jota lifted in his second, with the Gunners frustrations compounded by a 90th-minute dismissal for Thomas Partey.

Arsenal went close to taking the lead when Lacazette s free-kick was tipped onto the bar by Caoimhin Kelleher during an impressiv…

Guinea v Madagascar: Put wary of Africa Cup of Nations debutants

Paul Put has warned his Guinea side against complacency ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations opener with Madagascar.

Guinea failed to qualify for the 2017 edition of the tournament but managed to reach the quarter-final stage in 2015.

Tournament debutants Madagascar are first up in Group B, which also includes Burundi and Nigeria.

And Put, who also confirmed Liverpool midfielder and Guinea captain Naby Keita should be fit to feature in Alexandria, is wary of Madagascar s threat.

The first match is always very important because it will give us confidence to head into the rest of the tournament, he told a news conference.

But, it is also dangerous because we are playing against a side that is regarded as an underdog and most of the time they are d…

Rashford, who has hit 93 goals since making his United debut in 2016, has struggled throughout an underwhelming campaign, scoring just four times in 19 Premier League appearances.

The 24-year-old s dip in form saw him left out of Gareth Southgate s England squad for this month s friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast, while speculation has mounted as to wheth…

Borussia Dortmund 3 Bayern Munich 2: Super-sub Alcacer settles thrilling Klassiker

Paco Alcacer came off the bench to score a wonderful winner as Borussia Dortmund completed a stunning comeback to down Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich 3-2 in a brilliant Klassiker.

Marco Reus twice cancelled out Robert Lewandowski goals, but it was Alcacer who struck the decisive blow in the 73rd minute at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

Dortmund had a four-point cushion to the Bundesliga champions heading into the clash and their seven-point gap will now give them real hope of a title challenge, although they were spared a last-gasp Lewandowski leveller by a correct offside call.

Bayern coach Niko Kovac insisted pre-match he was not feeling the pressure, but questions may again be asked about his future at the club after their six-game unbeaten run in all competi…
